Kids in the classroom today want to be engaged using technology. After all for these kids, they've never lived in a world without the internet or smartphones. Studies have shown that about 10% of students surveyed about how they learn report that traditional lecture style works. They don't see technological tools as anything other than communication portals. It is simply how they communicate! Still there are many teachers and catechist who struggle with understanding how important it is to meet students where they are. In this session you will hear from leaders from Catholic organizations that are employing the use of digital tools and they will share why it's time to learn how to engage students using digital tools. You will hear about resources that will help you design a plan for implementing technology as a part of your lesson plans. Moderator: Sherry Hayes-Peirce Panelist: Alessandro Di Santo, Co-Founder Hallow App; Margaret Matjasevic, Executive Director NCCL; Andrea Chavez-Kopp Director of Formation and Digital Evangelization NCEA
